So in the documentation for the sample there is a description of steps needed to complete to make the default IDs working for Find My Device working with phones. This includes the step mentioned by Hieu and getting your Google account onboarded to the user group that makes this work. How to do that is described in the documentation.

I can't really think of anything, not sure if you have tried other phones for comparison or if you have a problem with this phone in specific. One thing you can try (presuming it's the same DK between the two tries you are doing) is to run for instance 'nrfjprog --eraseall' to ensure all bond information is erased on the nRF52840, also remove the nRF52840 device from Bluetooth settings of the pixel phone and possible turn BT off and on again to ensure it's not cache some bond information about the nRF52840.

Have you tried to enable debug mode IDs? See Fast Pair 3.2 Certification Guidelines (v2.0) | Google for Developers.

By default, the sample use Nordic's ID registered for debugging purposes. Therefore, it is only visible with the option above enabled. Please note that this ID is not to be used for production.
