Hi Lance,

I did further comparison between generated build/mqtt/zephyr/.config.conf files when static IP enabled or not.

It figures out the default CONFIG_NET_CONFIG_INIT_TIMEOUT=30 effect the waiting time, it basically will still

wait for IPv4 address from DHCPv4 until this timeout. You can change it to 0 to trigger using static IP directly.

There are quite many samples set CONFIG_NET_CONFIG_INIT_TIMEOUT=0 when using static IP.

Hi Lance,

Sorry for the delay. After set the static IP outside my router DHCP IP pool. My device can successfully get the static IP with previous setting now.

I can observe the delay before following log appear. Look into the codes, it seems related to Zephyr NET Connection Manager. I will report this issue to our development team for further debugging.

I did a try with following configuration but I observer from router that nRF7002DK still get IP from DHCP server.

CONFIG_NET_DHCPV4=n

CONFIG_NET_CONFIG_SETTINGS=y

CONFIG_NET_CONFIG_NEED_IPV4=y

CONFIG_NET_CONFIG_MY_IPV4_ADDR="192.168.50.201"

CONFIG_NET_CONFIG_MY_IPV4_GW="192.168.50.1"

CONFIG_DNS_SERVER_IP_ADDRESSES=y

CONFIG_DNS_SERVER1="192.168.50.1"

I doubt we set static IP in the correct way. Let me try the sta sample tomorrow to do a comparison.

Hi Charlie,

After I changed log level to 4 ( default is 3 ). A lots of messages come out but they are helpless. BTY, I follow your comment to set static Wi-Fi network configurations like SSID and Password and the result is the same.

If I set to static IP, the kernel boot to the first thread will be very slow. Any other idea?

Thanks for checking with us. I would suggest you to check log to find more clue, choose higher debug level like debug will help you understand which step consume more time.

In case you did not realize, It is also possible to connect Wi-Fi router with static Wi-Fi network configurations like SSID and Password to speed up your network connect. Exercise 2 - Nordic Developer Academy (nordicsemi.com)
