We have developed a nRF52820 based USB dongle board, as attached. It will be open source hardware soon. [ have attached pics]

Would like to know if nRF52820 can be used as a BLE sniffer?
If yes, please share links for the firmware

RE: nRF52820 as a BLE sniffer

Hi Vijay,

As mentioned before, we have he Sniffer firmware developed for support in our DKs and Dongle. And the nRF52820 does not have a dedicated DK. The nRF52820 needs to be developed on the nRF52833DK: https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fsdk_nrf5_v17.1.0%2Fnrf52820_user_guide.html

So though it should be possible to use the nRF52820 as BLE Sniffer, we do not have any firmware dedicated for the nRF52820.

Thanks for the reply and sharing the latest sniffer firmware inks.

I had the look at the "nrf_sniffer_for_bluetooth_le_4.1.1.zip" before and could not find the hex file for nrf52820 chipset in the "hex" folder of the zip file, so I posted the query here.

If we could get the sniffer source files, we could recompile it for the nrf52820 chip as the target and test its working.

Thanks for your support. Appreciate it.

Best regards

Yes, it should be possible to use the nRF52820 as BLE sniffer, but our BLE Sniffer firmware are only for support on our DKs and dongles, so we don't have any firmware for the nRF52820 custom board.

Maybe our BLE Sniffer firmware might work depending on how you have designed your dongle, but we cannot guarantee the working or performance.
