We have contact local sales representatives several times, however could not get any concrete information.

We have been informed the SDK that support LE Audio and QDID of it will be released in next spring, but no updates as of now.

Is there any way to gauge the progress of SDK development?

As Bluetooth SIG member, we have received the news letter ; "Changes to Qualification Workspace Testing Requirements in January"

On 2025-01-08,

- IOPT

- QPRD v3

are updated.

And it is expected to significantly delay the process of obtaining the QDID.

The QDID is released as SDK2.8.0 as planned,
But as far as we have checked by Bluetooth SIG, it does not include LE Audio.

Will it be released as 3.0.0 or later?

And is that a long way off?

So regarding your second question, it's not very straight forward, and the short answer would be no here. But here is some additional information for reference:

To run the QDID tests, you need PTS, which is a GUI program by the BT SIG that runs these tests on an IUT. However, running all these tests manually takes 20+ hours, so we are using an automatic framework called AutoPTS (https://github.com/auto-pts/auto-pts). This is a Python application that can run as a server on a Windows machine running PTS in auto mode, and as a client on a PC connected to the IUT.

The AutoPTS defines and implements a protocol called BTP which is used to communicate between the PC and the IUT. Zephyr has a test application called "BT Tester" (https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr/tree/main/tests/bluetooth/tester) which implements and supports the BTP. This BT Tester application implements and supports most (all?) of the LE Audio profiles, which allows us to run PTS tests automatically without any user input.

If you want to run PTS on your own, you have the following options:

1) Use PTS with AutoPTS and the BT Tester application. Fork and modify the BT Tester or create Pull Requests if you find any issues.

2) Use PTS with AutoPTS and your own test application that implements BTP (also possible to add something like a shell middle layer if you'd like.

Thus, we don't have a tester program specifically for the Audio DK as of now, but it should be possible to build and flash with the Bluetooth Tester application.

1. All of these: ASCS, BAP, CAP, CSIP and PACS are scheduled, but not available yet. We support all the mentioned services, but a QDID for these services is not yet in place.

2. I'm sorry, but I need to get back to you on this, as I'm not aware of a testsuite program like this for the Audio DK. I have asked the devs internally and will get back to you when I hear from them.

Currently we are asking the following 2 questions.

Since we are in the middle of product development and schedule is tight, we have asked to clarify the following points ASAP.

If 1) and 2) can't be provided,

I believe we must conduct QDID registration from the scratch on our own, which will have a significant impact on our schedule.

Any assitance provided from your side would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have Testsuite program that will work on Evaluation board "nRF5340 Audio Development Kit"?

If you have, we will conduct a series of test by it.

Sorry if I wasn't clear before: We do not yet have QDIDs for the LE Audio profiles/services, but we will get these in the future, and we recommend customers wait until we have this QDID. It looks like QDID as "LE Audio-specific Controller subsystem" doesn't include the legacy audio profile.

Please note that there is no Audio-specific Controller system for NCS versions 2.1.0-2.4.4, so I recommend you move to at least 2.5.0 or later for an LE Audio application. This QDID does not include the services and profile you're requesting, as these will be added as a separate QDID from the Controller, and are not yet ready. Please contact the sales manager of your area for a possible timeline on when they might be ready. That is a bit of a old version of the SDK you are wanting to use. I strongly recommend you to use the latest released SDK for development of newer projects.

If you have a strong reason to use that SDK, then you can find the QDID's info for any release nRF Connect SDK here
