I am lookging for a way to use the nRF7002 (or other 2.4 GHZ WifI solution) as a WiFi sniffer.
I want the solution to provide, for each WiFi packets in the previously configured channel, the RSSI and timetamp, packet length and datarate.

RE: WiFi sniffer

Hi,

We currently do not offer any wifi monitor mode that can handle such a throughput, unfortunately.

You can setup the nRF7002 in monitor mode, as described in this sample:

https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-latest/page/nrf/samples/wifi/monitor/README.html

However, please note that the overall throughput is highly limited by the nrf7002 capabilities, and the host controller (in this case the nRF5340) transport speed:

https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-latest/page/nrf/samples/wifi/monitor/README.html#offline_net_capture

The throughput of the nRF5340 USB is around 300 kByte/s, which will make the interface drop packets in congested use-cases.

Kind regards,

Håkon
