Reinstalling WSL2 from scratch (a bit overkill) makes it work again.

Hi Swathy,

I've disabled all (that could be) disabled. it now looks like this:

WSL is enabled (on the host, so Windows)
"nRF Connect for VS Code" is enabled (on the remote, so Ubuntu)

Behavior is the same and enabling further extensions has the same outcome.

Hi SwRa,

Intially I had this tool installed:

https://pypi.org/project/nrfutil/

Then I've installled that one:

https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-tools/nRF-Util

After which, i needed the old (legacy) nrfutil commands (like dfu, etc). And I noticed they have the same command name (at that time i had no clue nrf5-tools was available in the new nrfutil), so i've workaround switching between the two with Ubuntu's update-alternatives. However, now I've removed the pip nrfutil, and removed the update-alternativezs entry, but still doesnt work. So the new nrfutil, from command line, works fine, but the VSCode behaves like that, non-working state, keeps loading forever. I've reinstalled VSCode/extension, its not fixing the issue. Probably a new Ubuntu WSL full reinstall might fix it but its overkill and I'm not sure what exactly is the issue.

Actually, I forgot to mention something. In the past I was using `nrfutil` which now is changed to a completely different tool. Now I believe this problem has to do with this tool, since now there is another one called the same and to access the old tool this is command is required instead `nrfutil nrf5sdk-tools`. Is there a way to purge this old tool completely and ensure the new one is installed in WSL?

Hi SwRa,

I don't think this was ever working. Version 2.7.0 is quite new, in the past, the SDK was installed via nRF Connect for Desktop > Toolchain Manager path and now there is this comment:

nRF Connect for Desktop has variants (Windows, Linux, etc). For WSL, the Linux variant was used.

It might be that nRF Connect for VS Code extension doesn't properly take into account NRF SDK paths when installing via the WSL-Remote-Window channel or some ports accessibility between Windows/WSL have permission errors?

What shows up in the output terminal.? Could you try restarting the computer and trying again.? Also, please do provide the "Generate support information" as well.
