I'm having the same problem after updating from NCS 2.9.1 to 3.0.1.
Unfortunately, the "Update SDK" option via the Toolchain Manager no longer works in 3.0.0 and later 🙁

Hi,

I can build without issue by using the nRF Connect terminal in VSC and the command prompt from the Toolchain Manager. You can try to update the SDK from the Toolchain Manager.

Figured it out. It was a path length issue.
not sure what these error had to do with it, but it is solved and we can close this.
