Hi Greg 🙂,

I understand that it's a bit confusing. Please take a look at the APPROTECT documentation. The APROTECT feature can be enabled by enabling it in the UICR.APROTECT register. There is also the FORCEPROTECT for extra protection.

I hope maybe reading through the nRF52 series APPROTECT feature will explain a bit more.

Yes, you should be able to program the nRF52chip on the module with the DK as the programmer. Please take a look at this ticket.
