Hi,

So like this wall of info says, this might be sensitive information for you. What I would normally do, is to close this case so that only you and Nordic employees can see the case. However, since this is not really your case per se, I just realized that I can't really do that. So I would recommend that you consider creating a new case for this issue, so that the info can be kept private, but you do not have to.

Now back to the problem:

It might be that you've configured "nRF Connect" as the default terminal profile. Could yuo check if that is the case?

A complete uninstall and reinstall of VSC and SDK 2.7.0 (the only one installed) got it working again until the following day (after a PC shutdown) when opening the same project resulted in the same issue I reported. I am able to west build and west flash from the Terminal but clicking (build, flash, etc) icons spawns some task that does nothing but never seems to end (as I originally reported).

I'm assuming my full uninstall and reinstall also installed all the required and latest Nordic VSC extensions. I've checked and all extensions provided by Nordic are installed.

Version:

nrfjprog version: 10.24.2 external
JLinkARM.dll version: 7.94e

And the solution that was linked to doesn't help anything for you?

Could you give me your version of nrfjprog and JLink by running "nrfjprog -v"?

Could you also make sure that you've installed the entire VSC extension pack from Nordic?

I have the exact same problem. I can only build and flash by typing in the commands at the command prompt. Clicking the icons looks like it's doing something as I have the rotating icon, but nothing ever happens, just the 'Task is running' message as you've indicated.

I have run into a "similar" issue before, with which I had to reinstall VSC, and clear %APPDATA%\Code and %USERPROFILES%\.vscode. I do not necessarily think the issue is related to NCS. I also do not know if you really need to avoid doing an auto-upgrade here, I do not see where that is mentioned in the Q&A you linked to.

But either way, I am glad you know how something that works. Feel free to close this case if you want.

Hello,

I am glad that you found something that worked for you, even though not enabling auto-upgrades doesn't sound like the most optimal solution. Though it is true that the latest version of the SDK doesn't currently have full support in the VSC extension, and it might be something related to that is at fault here.

I fully uninstalled VS Code and nRF Connect/Command Line Tools, including all files in the folders %APPDATA%\Code and %USERPROFILES%\.vscode. After this I did a fresh re-install to an older version 2.5.0 and everything seems to be working again.
I have avoided doing an auto upgrade.
This solution i found from a similar Q&A.
