Looks like a colleague have worked on getting gzll support into the nRF Desktop application in nRF Connect SDK. Maybe this can be used as pointers:

I just want to choose between either gazell or BLE, and different modes can be switched by buttons at runtime

Hello,

Just to make sure I don't misunderstand. Do you want to (1) choose between either gazell or BLE, or do you want (2) to try to run the two protocols in parallel? Unfortunately the second is not possible.
