I'm using an nRF9160DK v1.0.1 (2021.26) for developing an application on the nRF9160 with ncs v2.5.0 and I'm currently looking to optimize current consumption. I realize that the nRF9160DK is not optimized for low power, but I want to make sure

RE: Understanding how to get minimal current consumption on the nRF9160

Something to check is GPIO state.
I totally overlooked the nRF5x reference in the sample description as I thought it referred to the nRF5 SDK and was some sort of port to Zephyr, but it makes sense that it refers to the hardware instead.

After following the referenced thread, I get to a consumption of around 8µA. Not quite the 1.4µA I was hoping for, but definitely way better. Do you have any idea what could explain the increase?

RE: Understanding how to get minimal current consumption on the nRF9160

See Low power empty project .

RE: Understanding how to get minimal current consumption on the nRF9160

Hello,
To try and get to these numbers, I started from the system_off sample.
Why are you trying to run an nRF5x sample on an nRF9160 DK? I don't think that sample should work for nRF9160. If you want to actually put the device in system off you should set NRF_REGULATORS->SYSTEMOFF=1 as done here.
