I work on a thingy52 since few weeks with a nrf52832 SoC. When i'm turning it on and connecting it to my computer, there is no led turn on and it is not detected both by computer and by the nrf connect application on the phone. You would need to use a debugger externally to connect to the Thingy52 to program it. Or you can switch to bootloader mode and send the image via the phone. But doing DFU is not ideal for developing application.

My suggestion is to get started with our nRF52 Development Kit instead.
