I’m using VS Code with the nRF Connect extension. When I try to build the “bme68x_iaq” application to upload it later to the Nordic Thingy:53 and read its data, I encounter an error. In the Build Configuration, I select the "thingy53/nrf5340

RE: Programming thingy53

That is excellent news!
Sorry for replying so late. When I do the two lines of west code to add the library, I get an error saying that west is not recognized, even though I followed the steps to initialize it.

So if I undestand, until the library installation works, I can't make my application?

If you are new to our nRF Connect SDK I would strongly recommend going through our Developer Academy courses nRF Connect SDK Fundamentals and nRF Connect SDK Intermediate. This gives more information on how our SDK works and the usage of its built-in tools.
But I don't know how to add it to my application on VS code.
In our documentation it states:

Did you follow these steps?
What do you mean, when i build my application, i choose the board and i build.
After doing the steps above, you can build the BME68X: Gas Sensor sample by adding a build configuration in VS Code
