My extensions (nRF Connect for VS Code, etc) were out of date, that's the problem. I had Auto-Update turned on for the extensions but I usually have my Windows dis-connected from the network at boot-up, to avoid Windows background stuff that bogs everything down. I just turn on the network selectively as needed. I had updated the SDK and toolchain but didn't think about the extensions. So that I kept missing the Auto-Updates, unwittingly. My mistake ! Sorry to trouble you !

Hi again, I am on Windows 11. As a side note, if I try to build targeting the nrf52840 DK board, as part of the output I see:

Can you share a picture of your vs code setup, while in the "Add build configuration" tab?

If $board_$device is the only option to select, this indicates a setup related issue. For instance that vscode picks up the wrong NCS version or similar.

Are you on mac or windows? Screenshot indicates mac, while log indicates windows.

Below is the full output, after deleting build folder and attempting build using sysbuild.

There is no option in the Boards listing for "nrf54l15dk/nrf54l15/cpuapp" . Only "nrf54l15dk_nrf54l15_cpuapp" .

Hi Tommy,

Could you try to delete the build folder, regenerate the build and share the full output? ie. from the west ... cmd and all the way to the emitted error?

As mentioned, you should not be able to select devices with "_" in the board name with sysbuild (ie. from ncs v2.7.0 and newer).

With hardware model v2 (HWMv2), the correct board name should be nrf54l15dk/nrf54l15/cpuapp.

underscores in the board name will create a error:
