&lt;p&gt;This is technically possible, but it won&amp;#39;t get you anywhere. You can subscribe to attribute reports without a OTBR/a hub, but if you want to control anything you need to edit access control, which requires a Matter controller (for instance the OTBR or a 3rd party commercial Matter compatible hub). What you in practice will get is a light switch that can listen to the state of the light bulb, but nothing more (which I hope you can agree is not very useful).&lt;/p&gt;
