A new update to the VS Code Extension should be available soon (I can not say exactly when).
With that update, you should not longer get the warning that "GPIO is set twice".

Let me know if you still get this warning after your next VS Code Extension update

It's stated here that the Academy course is not updated to the latest version of the tools and Problems should be ignored...

This makes sense then. See Application Contexts docs. It is because the config for the project will be under "blinky", and if CONFIG_GPIO is for the project, this has to be selected for VS Code to understand.

If your project uses these, they should be in prj.conf for your project

Hi Sigurd,

When I expand "build" and select "blinky", the warning is removed. Other warnings appear as in the screenshot below. And, yes, blinky and my original application do build despite the warning. and remember my original question: where should I define CONFIG_GPIO and CONFIG_PWM?

In the left menu, try to expand "build" and then select "blinky". Does that remove the warning?

And a comment:
The warning here should not make the build fail. You should still be able to build and flash the project successfully. Of course, I understand that you would want to fix the warning, so I will help you with this still.

I tried the Zephyr Blinky sample with similar results to my own application. After having built the project, here is a screen shot showing Blinky, the squiggles, and the PROBLEMS warning message:

Sorry, I can't help you. But I want to report that I have a similar error. I'm following the course "nrf Connect SDK Fundamentals" and am now stuck on task 2 where the Blinky example is the starting point. I've been looking for several days to find out what could be wrong, without success. I mention this becouse I have observed when "googling" that other have the same problem.
