I ended up just following the guide and copying/editing the files from the nrf5340 devkit accordingly and this worked out. Thank you for your help!

The "Create a new board" GUI works for simple boards, but when you add multiple cores and TF-M the board files you get will not work out of the box. Looks to me like only appcore and netcore without TF-M gets all the files you need though?

The DevAcademy topic goes through every step to teach you how it all works.

You can use the GUI to create a template to start, but you will have to edit the files manually to get all the way for the nRF5340.

EDIT: No wait I also see TF-M files in the automatically created board.
I suggest that you try to use the GUI and see how it goes. Then let me know if you face any issues

Yes this is precisely what I was looking for thank you very much.

In Exercise 2 of that tutorial they do not use the "create a new board" GUI in nRF Connect for VSCode. Since we are using an nRF5340 we would be following Exercise 2 in order to create a board, however I can see the nrf5340 in the "Create a new board" GUI and I'm wondering if I can just use this to create my board? Will this not properly generate the board files to be configured for the multi-core or Trusted Firmware-M as opposed to following Exercise 2 and copying the files from, say, the nrf5340dk and modifying them accordingly?
