does firmware or example source code exist for the PCA10000 USB dongle that implements the Bluetooth HID host?
I would like to use it as receiver for the Nordic Smart Remote 2 Eval Kit running the HID over GATT (device) application.

RE: Bluetooth HDI Host on PCA10000

Sorry, Andre.
Your phone has the stock android bluetooth API, and that app uses the older samsung API for bluetooth low energy.

This app is "stock 4.3"-compatible:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.nordicsemi.android.mcp&hl=en

These are also stock-4.3 compatible: "nRF UART 2.0" and "nRF Temp 2.0"

RE: Bluetooth HDI Host on PCA10000

Hi, just tried that. It said the app is compatible with my device, the Note 3. When I run the app, it gives me a "Device is not supported" error message and then closes down.
How are you searching for the device?
Note that a conventional search for bluetooth devices may not list bluetooth low energy devices.

Instead, try discovering using "nRFutility" app in play store:

If you want to connect to a device with your phone, you should use the PCA10001 (the larger board) and program it with, for instance, the "ble_app_hrs" example application in our SDK.

RE: Bluetooth HDI Host on PCA10000

Does this mean that the PCA10000 USN stick does not transmit any Bluetooth 4.0 information?
thank you for your response.

Are there any code examples / Hardware Eval-Kits for a Bluetooth low energy host from Nordic?
Maybe I have missed something but so far I have only seen BLE device examples delivered with the Smart Remote 2 and the nrf51822 SDK.

RE: Bluetooth HDI Host on PCA10000

Hi,

It will connect and exchange data with the MasterControlPanel, but it will not act as a normal HID keyboard.
The MasterControlPanel is made to debug your link and see if all your bits and bytes are correct, in terms of advertising/charateristics/data validation and other parameters.
This is a debug solution only.

If you'd like to test your keyboard in it's natural environment, you will have to get a PC with Windows 8 (officially supports BLE HID-over-GATT) which has a certified bluetooth 4.0 (dongle or on-board).

Best regards
