You have a newer version of the DK with the new debugger?

If that is the case then you are not able to recover the interface MCU in the same way and if you have tried to do that then you might have broken the device if that is the case as the interface MCS does not have the same support for being re-flashed.

You can also create a new ticket with all this info and link to this case as reference and we can follow up there.

IF only the interface MCU is what does not behave properly then you might still be able to program the onboard nRF SoC with another Debugger\Programmer through the Debug In connector.

Oh Thanks, I was referring the old versions manual but got into the same issue. My nrf52832 DK is currently in Bootloader mode. And is not detected in laptop when I connect with cable. how should i get out of the bootloader mode?

Prasad_2001 , what version of the DK are you referring to ? In the latest version of the DK v3.x.x, (link: https://docs-be.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ug_nrf52832_dk/attach/nRF52_DK_User_Guide_v3.x.x.pdf?_LANG=enus )

The new DK's do not work the same way the old ones did. There is a difference on hoe the interface MCU is used here.

Actually the nrf52 dk has gone into the Boot Loader Mode which leads to the blinking of LED5. It is written on the pg. No 9 of the DK's user manual the way it enters the Boot Loader mode. I am also having the same issue. And just want to know how to get out of the Bootloader Mode?

I probed on the pads of the TVS which are connected to TP1 and TP2.

Following are measurements at TP1 with an oscilloscope:

The first screenshot is on a properly functionning DK.

The second screenshot is on the defective DK.

Very interesting, can you show exactly where on the kit you probed? Also, would it be possible to check with an oscilloscope probe as well? Would tell us if there is any activity on the lines not strong enough to trigger the logic analyzer.

I probed the datalines on the USB for a brand new DK that is working. This is what I see.

On the DK with the issue, there's no traffic on the data lines.

This is using the exact same cable and computer. I just plugged and unplugged the DKs to switch and switched my Logic Analyzer.

Recovery on the Debugger\J-Link portion is not possible so dont try anything there. That was only an option on the older versions with a different chip.

Are you able to probe the data lines of the USB?
If the LED5 is blinking it indicates that the device is not able to communicate with the computer for some reason.

Hi,

yes I can flash with an external programmer the target nRF52 on the DK. It's only the J-Link portion that is not working.

The sticker says

Can you share the info that is on the sticker with us ?

And just to confirm that the nRF52 on the DK is working, can you try to use another DK or external programmer to program the "broken" DK?

I have tried other PCs, other cables and I have other DKs to check. They all work on the cables and PCs I've tried with.

I used to run this devkit powered on with a power-only cable in a prototype. This is after running it for a couple hours like that that it stopped working when I'm plugging it into a PC.

Since this is a nRF52 DK there's only one USB port so I'm plugged into the right one.

Fast blinking LED5 means the DK doesn't see the USB host. Check the cable and the connection to the PC. Try other cables/ports on PC to ensure you are connected. And you have plugged the cable into the USB connector on the short end of the DK?
