Hello,

As advised, I tried to use another USB cable - and this resolved my problem!

I am now able to communicate from the nRF Connect for Desktop with my Nordic nRF52840 DK development kit.

Those thumbtacks look like they might be conductive.? I'm also wondering if you have any other USB cables you could try. I've seen quite a few cases where the cable itself turned out to be the culprit.

Hello,

I tried two different USB ports - but problem persists.

When I plug my DK into the USB port - it does not show as a removable storage device in Windows. I attach a screenshot of the Windows File manager that only shows: "Windows SSD(C:)" under "This PC" - and no removable storage.

As requested, I attach a picture of my nRF52840 DK board.

Thanks again for confirming. If LED 5 is blinking it indicates that there is no data communication between the Segger IC and PC. Please try with another USB cable and different ports on the PC. Please also post a picture of the board so I can check if all the switches are in their default positition.

The board should show up as a removable storage device like a USB memory stick in Windows.

I do not know how to check if the DK enumerates as a mass storage device named 'Jlink' when I plug in the USB.

Thanks for confirming. Does the DK enumerate as a mass storage device named 'Jlink' when you plug in the USB? Also, does LD5 on the board blink, or is does it remain on?

Hello,

As advised, I installed the legacy driver as suggested in the post mentioned above, by installing Segger J-Link V7.96f and by selecting/checking the box: "Install legacy USB driver for J-Link".

However, despite connecting my development kit to my laptop via the USB port, I am still getting the message: "Detection is taking longer than expected. Ensure your kit is powered on. Contact support on DevZone and provide the log if the problem persists".

So, I attach the relevant log file that simply reads that:

"INFO: Using JLink version: JLink_V7.96f".

What shall I do to be able to communicate from the "nRF Connect for Desktop" with my Nordic Development Kit?

Could you please try to install the legacy driver as suggested in this post: J-Link legacy USB driver required on Windows for some DK boards and let me know if it fixes the problem or not.
