&lt;p&gt;You will need to stick to the value given.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What sometimes can be done in similar situations is to use two inductors in series that total the same value. I have not seen this been done with this L1 inductor so I am not sure how well it will work. &lt;p&gt;Yes, I mean smaller in size, not value.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Of course, if a smaller value inductor can be used here instead, that can also lead to the reduction in size when choosing inductor.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;You want to use a smaler inductor, but in size/dimensions only ? not value?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This should be ok as long as its not moved to far away.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But, I want to note that we higly recommend that you follow the reference layout that we have as best as possible.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Strongly recommend you to source the crystal that we use or one with similar specs. Using something else will be difficult and limited help that we can provide.
