&lt;p&gt;As mentioned, having a unused section or filesystem present shall not increase the current consumption.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Can you please elaborate on what is the cause of your added current consumption?&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;You can also have a look at the &amp;quot;build-folder/partition.yaml&amp;quot; to see how your flash is setup.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It is statically configurable, as per the kconfig that you initially mentioned.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Having a filesystem should not automatically increase the current consumption, unless it is heavily used.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Can you share plots or info on how much you are consuming, and what you expect to consume?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The sample you&amp;#39;re using has serial enabled, have you tried to disable it to see if this decreases the current?&lt;/p&gt;
