you're completely right: (o) no sysbuild is the way to go.

for me as a newbie it was clear to build with the proposed option (o) build system default.
"default" is always good when starting in unknown territory - this was the exception of the rule.

And thanks for pointing me to the sysbuild lesson.

I suspect it's related to the project is not setup to use sysbuild, if you build it without sysbuild I suspect it works. At least a quick check works using no-sysbuild: \modules\hal\nordic\nrfx\samples\src\nrfx_spim\non_blocking
