What are the steps I need to take to switch from BLE protocol to lets say the Gazelle protocol? Is it as simple as disabling the Softdevice? If such a function exists- will it take care of resetting interrupts, freeing resources etc.? This is how

RE: Correct procedure to toggle between BLE and proprietary protocol

Went through the sample- I'll be creating a similar implementation.

I see. There are no official samples demonstrating this, but it is possible to initialize and un-initialize the protocl stacks. While not using Gazel, there is an unofficial third party sample here which demonstrate BLE and ESB non-concurrently (the BLE stack is disabled when ESB is enabled and vise versa).

(Regarding SoftDevice, the nRF Connect SDK include the SoftDevice Controller as as the Bluetooth Link Layer, you are right on that).

RE: Correct procedure to toggle between BLE and proprietary protocol

Oh I'm sorry for the confusion; I thought that NRF connect SDK also uses the Softdevice, wasn't really aware since I'm new to the Nordic ecosystem.

I was looking for a NRF connect SDK example.

RE: Correct procedure to toggle between BLE and proprietary protocol

Hi,

As you mention the SoftDevice, I assume you are using the old NRF5 SDK? If so, you can refer to the Multiprotocol Application example that demonstrate BLE and Gazell.

PS: I would recomend that you use nRF Connect SDK for any new development, see nRF Connect SDK and nRF5 SDK statement.
