Sounds like we are getting expected speeds for the nRF5SDK application, I'll consider this resolved, thanks again for your answers.

I received an update from the mobile apps developers saying that with secure DFU in nRF5SDK (v15.x.x and higher), the speed you are seeing (7–8kB/s) is normal, and it is even less with SDK versions lower than 15.x.x.

I know this is very low compared to the speed we see in nRF Connect SDK, which uses McuMgr.

Yes that nRF5 SDK is built of the dfu secure bootloader ble example, with little to no modification. To be specific pca10056_s140_ble. We are using single bank updates.

Sorry for misinterpreting the question you raised. I’m not very familiar with our old nRF5 SDK, but I will look into this. I am checking with the mobile apps team to see if this is the expected normal speed. Is this a custom application or one of the samples from the SDK? If it’s a custom application, are you able to see the same issue with any of the samples?

Hello for nrf5sdk we are using v17.1.0

For Nordic Connect Sdk/Zephyr we are using v2.9.1

I am using nrf52832 and nrf52 in general.

We are not having any speed issues with the Nordic Connect SDK, I am more interested in speeding up the dfu on the older nrf5sdk and whether we may want to look some options in sdk_config.h to reach a similar speed.

Could you tell me which SDK version and Nordic chip you are using here? Try including CONFIG_NCS_SAMPLE_MCUMGR_BT_OTA_DFU_SPEEDUP inside the prj.conf file and see if that makes any difference.

You can also check an old DevZone case with a similar issue.
