&lt;p&gt;Is this a custom board? Have you verified that any other samples&amp;nbsp;(Blinky, for example) are running properly without J-Link connected? Here is a &lt;a href="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/111537/nrf52832-custom-board-only-runs-application-in-debug-mode"&gt;chain of tickets&lt;/a&gt; referring to similar problems.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Debug mode forces the LDO to be on.
