Sorry I can't switch the OS on my PC right now as this is my work PC.

But it looks the error does not depend on the OS version as on my other PC with Ubuntu 22.04 it is working but pzaremba has issues on 22.04.

Hard to debug this issue without this specific PC.

I check with our colleagues, no one use Ubuntu 24.10 by far since it is short-term support version and introduce many latest features, newer software, experimental enhancements. Maybe worth to try Ubuntu 24.04 TLS/Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with this PC.

I am quite sure this does not depend on the HW but the laptop with the issues is:

HP HP ProBook 455 G8 Notebook PC
AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800U with Radeon™ Graphics × 16
32,0 GiB RAM
Ubuntu 24.10 64-Bit
Kernel Linux 6.11.0-26-generic

Isn't there any logfile or something you might be interested to get more info?

It is a bit strange and seems not to be related to the Ubuntu Version.

I tested it on another PC with Ubuntu 22.04 (I don't have 24.04 available) as pzaremba but there I don't see the high CPU usage.

I am now using ncs v3.0.1 and toolchain v3.0.2

The issue persists on Ubuntu 24.10 with these versions.

Does the high CPU usage occur when only the nRF Connect extension is installed, without any NCS version installed?

Same here with Ubuntu 22.04. That extension caused me hours of frustration before I stumbled upon these threads.

Thanks for checking with us about this issue.

According to the official documentation, Ubuntu 24.10 is not officially supported at the moment. Would you have a chance to test on Ubuntu 24.04 x64 instead?

It's also not clear whether the high CPU usage is caused by the nRF Connect for VS Code extension itself or by the installed NCS v3.0.1. Could you try checking the CPU usage when only the nRF Connect extension is installed, without installing NCS?
