Hi Dejan,

Actually, we just got the requirements that the head unit (Central) can have connections with 5 or 6 devices. The detailed function should be in the stream management software by customer, We just want to clear if a LE audio can work as the topology. Maybe one phone can stream its audio to head unit, and then share to another earphones, maybe each earphone can hear the audio from head unit and swtich to phone if the call is coming etc. head unit acts as a audio gateway to manage connected device and manage the audio routing, audio input / output process etc.

So please provide a suggestion that if the topology can work, then we can propose to our customer.

Maybe a LE Audio chip can not support the bandwidth to stream so many audios at the same time, then we can let customer knows it and modify our topology. Maybe we can use 2 LE audio chip in head unit to fullfill it. Should get the advise from you.

Hi Jack,

Looking at your topology, it is still not clear to me why there is a need for having all phones going to the same central device. What is the exact point of having the central device if all 3 phones are transmitting only to their corresponding separate headphones? In addition, why would a person in the car want to route his/her audio through a central unit? Can you please elaborate on this?

Hi Dejan,

1. yes, the stream from different can be at the same time

2. no clear audio quality requirements from customer, do you have any suggention for the configuration that 3 different streams from phone to their own earphone. So 6 streams in, out at the same time.

3. yes, each phone stream the audio to the same color earphone

4. I think it should be unicast, because the 3 earphone receiving different stream.

Can you please answer the following questions:
1. Will the phones stream at the same time?
2. What audio quality are you looking for (16 bit, 48 KHz or lower)?
3. Will each phone stream to their own headset (which seems to be the case looking at the colors)?
4. Can you use broadcast (BIS) from the head unit to the headsets, or does it need to be unicast (CIS)?

Hi,

We just get the head unit requirement, it should support at most 5 or 6 device connections at the same time. the device can be phone or earphone, and the head unit is the gateway between these devices. So I think that the head unit can equipped a LE audio component which used to connect with 6 devices just like the picture below. The audio stream shall be routed into external SoC to do audio process and routed to the pre-defined earphone. If this architecture can work, then we can promote the solution to our customer.

Which particular device in your diagram is the proposal to the customer about? Which device do you plan to develop? Is your plan to make Head Unit?

Can you provide more details about Head Unit?

Do you have any requirements for communication between mobile phones and headphones?

Hi Dejan,

Our proposal is as the picture. The head unit in car can have at most 5 or 6 connections with devices including phone, headphone etc. and each passenger represent by different color can use his phone to stream the media to his headphone.

We need to get some infomation to prepare the head unit proposal to our customer.

What is audio source in your case?
Which specific phones and headphones do you plan to use?
