&lt;p&gt;Based on the callstack, it seems that you are asserting in the uart_event_handler.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The default behavior if a generic UART error (Framing or similar) is discovered is to assert. You can ofcourse comment out this in the uart_event_handler if you&amp;#39;d like.&lt;/p&gt;
