I'm developing a small breakout board to test/program the NRF52805; this board will eventually be expanded to include a pressure sensor and a PMIC (ideally Nordic too). I'm fairly new to more complex board design

RE: PCB Design Evaluation - nRF52805

Hi Bendik,

Thank you for taking the time - your feedback was very useful and to the point. Thank you for highlighting the antenna matching circuit as well.

I've incorporated your suggestions, and look forward to testing the finished prototype once we have it back in our lab.

Will update with how things turn out.

Hope you have a great week ahead!

Best,

Nikolai

RE: PCB Design Evaluation - nRF52805

Hi,

The schematic looks mostly good, but the antenna is missing a impedance matching network, the antenna datasheet recommends a L-network:

The layout also need a couple of changes to ensure good RF performance, one of the traces on the bottom layer should be rerouted to remove the GND "island" on the bottom layer, here is a suggestion on how this could be rerouted:

This part of the GND fillis very thin, the RF trace should be moved fourther from the antenna clearance area to allow for a wider GND fill on both sides of the RF trace and vias connecting it to the bottom layer :

Other than these points the design looks good.

Best regards,

Bendik
