We recently upgraded our application to use NCS version 3.0.1 and have not been able to flash firmware onto our nRF54L15 boards. We are running into the same issue as described in this thread:
However, after updating nrfutil, its submodules

RE: nRF54L15 Failing to Flash with NCS 3.0.1 SDK Version

Found the answer here, the version of nrfutil installed for my user and for root were different. So while my standard install was upgraded and showed the expected version, the root user was accessing an older version during the build process. Upgrading the nrfutil application as root resolved the issue.

RE: nRF54L15 Failing to Flash with NCS 3.0.1 SDK Version

I don't think the issue has do with WSL and USB in this case. I am able to perform any other USB operations through the nrfutil tool, and as I mentioned I was and still am able to flash images to the device when running on the 2.8.0 release of the SDK from the same WSL environment.

Is there any information you could provide on the specific error thrown by nrfutil? We are not clear on what the 'application core revision info' is or where it would be located that nrfutil is not able to find it.

There are some limitations when using J-Link from WSL. I believe this is due to WSL's limited support for USB devices. This is mentioned in the section on programming the firmware. Also, in this ticket, a workaround was suggested by one of the customers, you can give it a shot.

I believe the issue you reported only occurs on machines running WSL. If that's not the case, please let me know.

Kind regards,

In a separate checkout with the 2.8.0 SDK version, flashing is still working as expected on all boards using the same nrfutil and Jlink tools.
