Can you please provide which SDK version does support Bluetooth Mesh sample applications for board nRF52840dongle/nRF52840.
And procedure to build and flash board nRF52840dongle/nRF52840.

1. You can find the light_ctrl sample here (\nrf\samples\bluetooth\mesh\light_ctrl) from your NCS folder. I have provided the link of the documentation where you can see on wchich board this mesh sample works.

So, I believe that you can see light_ctrl samples work on nRF52840 dongle.

Please keep in mind, It is not the zephyr ''mesh'' application; It is light control application from nrf. Find this sample here (\nrf\samples\bluetooth\mesh\light_ctrl) and build it for the nrf52840dongle/nrf52840 board target.
Program the sample onto the dongle.
Evaluate as instructed on the page ( https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-latest/page/nrf/samples/bluetooth/mesh/light_ctrl/README.html#testing)

I had similar observation for Zephyr sample application "mesh" with "nRF Mesh app" on target nrf52840dk/nrf52840

Que 1: What step we shall perform so that the device provisioned with the phone (nRF Mesh app).
Que 2: What configuration changes need to be done in existing Mesh app and nRF Mesh app in order to do provisioning and configuring the device ?

This is from our documentation ( https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-latest/page/nrf/samples/bluetooth/mesh/light_ctrl/README.html#testing )

After programming the sample to your development kit, you can test it by using a smartphone with nRF Mesh mobile app installed. Testing consists of provisioning the device and configuring it for communication with the mesh models.

When the development kit is started, it will keep its previous Light state as the BT_MESH_ON_POWER_UP_RESTORE is set for the Light Lightness Server. When Emergency data storage is enabled it is important that the Button 4 is used to store the data before the development kit is halted and then restarted.

Provisioning the device

The provisioning assigns an address range to the device, and adds it to the mesh network. Complete the following steps in the nRF Mesh app:

Tap Add node to start scanning for unprovisioned mesh devices.
Select the Mesh Light Fixture device to connect to it.
Tap Identify, and then Provision, to provision the device.
When prompted, select an OOB method and follow the instructions in the app.

Once the provisioning is complete, the app returns to the Network screen.

Thanks for your valuable response.

I will go through the sample documentation.

With default settings, the mesh sample app will load the stored settings and thus does the self provisioning (i.e. provisioning and configuring inside the software and not through external app). Please correct if my understanding is wrong.

I had gone through the sample app light_ctrl (sdk-nrf/samples/bluetooth/mesh/light_ctrl) in SDK and it seems that this app will also load the settings and does the self provisioning.

Appreciate if you can address the below queries:

1. How to add the self provisioned device in nRF Mesh mobile app.

2. I had done below setting but nRF Mesh is failed to provisioned the device

#CONFIG_BT_SETTINGS=y
#CONFIG_SETTINGS=y

What configuration changes to be done in existing Mesh app in order to do provisioning and configuring through nRF Mesh app ?

3. Device is advertising using random address, is their any way to use fixed address ? (This is for testing purpose.)

Hello,

We highly recommend that you use one of the Bluetooth Mesh samples under the nrf folder of the SDK, and not under zephyr. The nrf samples are well tested, and the sample documentation provides instructions for how to test them.

Please note also that for provisioning and usage of the Bluetooth Mesh functionality of any samples, you should use the nRF Mesh app only. The nRF Connect app is for normal BLE services, not for use with Bluetooth Mesh.
