From the modem side as well, you don't need to manually configure any parameters for cell selection and cell handover. The modem firmware automatically follows the standard cellular network rules defined by 3GPP and makes automatic cell selections based on information from the SIM.

Yes we have been more interested in the modem/cellular Jumps rather than GPS ones to see if there's anything to be done from firmware standpoint to handle the use-case from Zephyr.

From the perspective of the nRF Cloud firmware, we don't believe there's anything on our side that can address the issue of "large location jumps." You will need to rely on GPS or another location method of your choice to mitigate this.

If you're looking to configure the modem, I recommend referring to the modem AT command documentation. If you have any specific questions, feel free to let me know , I can take a look or involve the modem team as needed.

Hi Menon

The application is Pet tracker. Unfortunately, India doesn't support LTE-M and so, we have decided to go with Nordic + Nb-IoT solution. Interestingly, the big location jumps may not be so frequent but quite possible in case pet goes missing.

We would want to understand if there's anything specific from Nordic that needs to be done in order to handle such location changes?

Could you provide some details about the application you are working with? I'm asking because if the device's location needs to change frequently, NB-IoT isn't suitable, LTE-M should be used instead.
