I've been using the Connectivity Bridge firmware built from the 3.1.0 SDK on the Thingy:91 X for a couple days now and I haven't seen the garbled output. It looks like the changes in the 3.1.0 release fixed the issues. If I see them come back, I'll let you know, but for now, I think you can mark this as resolved.

I tend to skip a couple of NCS versions, before I start to test a new one ...

And currently I'm too busy with other topics, therefore no experience with NCS 3.1.0.

Achim Kraus I just checked and it looks like this config is present in the latest 3.1.0 release. Just curious if you've tried 3.1.0? I'm gonna try building that today and test it out.

At least with the Connectivity Bridge of NCS 2.9.2 the fix in the commit above works now for a couple of weeks.

The fix configure the UARTs properly:

CONFIG_UART_0_NRF_HW_ASYNC=y
CONFIG_UART_1_NRF_HW_ASYNC=y
CONFIG_UART_0_NRF_HW_ASYNC_TIMER=1
CONFIG_UART_1_NRF_HW_ASYNC_TIMER=2

I just noticed in https://github.com/hello-nrfcloud/firmware/blob/main/tests/on_target/README.md#nrf91-tests that there appears to be a Segger firmware available for the nRF53. I'm not sure if this is available for the public to download or if it's internal to Nordic, but if that firmware provides USB-to-UART functionality, it could be used to check whether this issue occurs without using the Connectivity Bridge firmware.

With NCS 2.9.2 that fixes my uart/logging issues.

With NCS 3.0.2 there are still some left.

Anyway, I will try to test the connectivity bridge thingy91x ncs 2.9.2 with a seconds device for a while and will report the outcome.

Just from my ticket:

I put my app in nearly the same version on a Thingy:91X and a nRF9151-DK (same NCS version, different board supports).

"Ghost-chars" on the Thingy:91X on "faster output".

No such "Ghost-chars" on the nRF9151-DK, even on "faster output".

Yes, some one may try, if using a USB to TTL will change that, but I don't consider to spend more time into this.

See Thingy:91X - nrf53_connectivity_bridge_v2.0.1 - wrong characters from February 2025. Unfortunately, I'm not aware, that this misbehavior is fixed.

Do you get the same result if you use Serial Terminal application for viewing log output?

You could try to use USB to TTL converter to check if you get the same output. You can look at discussion in this ticket.
