thanks a lot for your clarification. I swapped the frequency for the 16 Mbps and the error did go away. But now I have corrupted data, which was not happening with the 8 Mbps.

From the nRF 52840 documentation I saw that the SPIM3 should be able to reach up to 32 Mbps, is it true then?!

Hi Sam,

24 Mbps is not supported in the nRf52840.. The supported SPIM frequencies for nRF52840 in nRF Connect SDK can be seen here: https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/nrfx-apis-latest/page/group_nrf_spim_hal.html#ga5e37c3150ccd77887556edd6afbe3f65 .
