This is the right answer. Simply installing by the zip file like in the accepted answer won't fix this. It looks like a data migration issue starting at least a year ago.

aur.archlinux.org/.../nrfconnect-appimage

removing ~/.nrfconnect-apps solved this problem for me.

I downloaded the nrf connect 5.2.0 macos arm64 zip file on https://files.nordicsemi.com/ui/native/web-assets-com_nordicsemi/external/swtools/ncd/launcher, and this one works fine.

I tried the x86 version, and met the same error. Seems something is wrong with my Mac? How can I solve this?

Do you get the same error if you try to install an older version or if you try the x86 version with Rosetta 2?

Thank you for your reply. I installed nrfconnect5.2.0-arm64, which is the latest one. I use Macbook m4, macOS sequoia 15.6.1. I tried the command line and it still had the same error.

Hi Li,

What exact version did you install?
What version of macOS do you run and what Mac are you using?
Could you try launching the application from the command line?

/Applications/nRF\ Connect\ for\ Desktop.app/Contents/MacOS/nRF\ Connect\ for\ Desktop
