&lt;p&gt;&lt;span class="cf0"&gt;I was able to reproduce the issue you&amp;#39;ve described. I checked the source code, and I think your intuition is right. It&amp;#39;s trying to kill a process which doesn&amp;#39;t exist, gets an ESRCH exception (which is not handled) and thus crashes. I&amp;#39;ve let the relevant team know.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span class="cf0"&gt;As for a workaround, a simple &amp;quot;CTRL+SHIFT+P -&amp;gt; Developer: Reload Window&amp;quot; seems to work for me. In addition to that, if you&amp;#39;ve not already configured WSL to run in mirrored networking mode, I&amp;#39;d recommend that as it seems to play much more nicely with &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="cf0"&gt;usbipd&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="cf0"&gt;.
