&lt;p&gt;To program with the nRF Connect for VS Code extension, you need to use a debugger. The Thingy:91 X does not have an onboard debugger, so an external debug probe is required in this case.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;However, the Thingy:91 X can also be programmed through USB using MCUboot and nRF Util. You can find instructions for how to do this in&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-3.1.1/page/nrf/app_dev/device_guides/thingy91x/thingy91x_updating_fw_programmer.html"&gt;Updating the Thingy:91 X firmware using nRF Util&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
