You can use a SEGGER J-Link with a 1.8 V custom board, as long as VTref is tied to your board’s 1.8 V rail and the J-Link model supports that voltage range.

I assume you are using the Board configurator.? In that case, that would not be possible if you want to work with a custom board. The board configurator tool connects to the Board Controller on the DK to configure the DK. Not the SoC. My custom board operates at 1.8 V logic levels. Using the nRF9151 DK, I can configure the target voltage through nRF Connect Desktop.

Do you think the same voltage configuration is possible when using a third-party SEGGER J-Link debugger with my custom board?

HI Dhruvit,

It is not a requirement to use only nRF DK for flashing and debugging for custom hardware. DK's can also be used. The nRF Connect SDK supports various debug interfaces like J-Link and CMSIS-DAP, provided you have the proper drivers installed. Segger J-Link debuggers are explicitly mentioned in our documentation: https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-latest/page/zephyr/develop/flash_debug/probes.html#j-link_external_debug_probe The page also shows various other debuggers supported.

So in short, yes, you can use a third party debugger.
