I want to add the nordic documentation as an MCP server to claude and gemini clis. But this seems to require authentification by Kaipa, which is a paid service ?

Do I need to pay to access the official Documentation via MCP ?

You do not need an API key. You need to provide a valid Google account to perform the authentication. It can be any Google account and it's there to prevent spam.

After running
claude mcp add --transport http nordic-semiconductor-docs
https://nordicsemi.mcp.kapa.ai you need to run
/mcp
in order to open the browser for authentication. I guess that you ran this already, and when you see that “needs authentication” line it means that you should see a browser window open, requesting Google authentication.

Do you see a browser pop up asking for Google authentication, as this is required for authentication in place of an API key.

As far as we are concerned, Nordic does not impose any fees for accessing the official Documentations, and they are free of cost.

If any third party platforms impose fees, say, Kapa hosted MCP infrastructure etc., I think you should be contacting that particular platform's support for the same.
