Should I add CONFIG_BOOT_UPGRADE_ONLY=y there, or do I need to add anything else? I am using no sysbuild (child image )configuration

BOOT_UPGRADE_ONLY is equivalent to the sysbuild symbol SB_CONFIG_MCUBOOT_MODE_OVERWRITE_ONLY.

Hello,

No, I asked for the .config file generated for your bootloader and you have not provided this. This file is located in the build folder under the following path build/mcuboot/zephyr/ like mentioned earlier. Please also work on formatting your posts. The screenshots you posted are not easy to read and take up too much space since you are including the white background.

Yes, I tested with overwrite enabled and disabled. I will share my configuration. Even after setting everything correctly, the logs still show swapping .OTA is working correctly, but I want to check the behavior with overwrite enabled and disabled.

CONFIG_BOOT_SWAP_USING_MOVE=y this command i use for swaping process but same log occured.

Yes, the swap should not take place if you really have overwrite mode enabled. I suggest you verify the configuration to see if overwrite mode is indeed enabled in the generated .config file for mcuboot (can be found in build folder under the following path: build/mcuboot/zephyr/).

During testing, overwrite mode was tested in both enabled and disabled states. Initially, Slot0 contained firmware version 1.1 and Slot1 contained version 1.2. After resetting the device, a firmware swap occurred, resulting in Slot0 having version 1.2 and Slot1 having version 1.1. The boot logs appear the same in both overwrite enabled and disabled scenarios."Is this wrong or not

Hello Nordic Team,

OTA has been implemented without sysbuild using nRF Connect SDK v2.9.0 on a custom nRF52833 board.

the overwrite configuration was added inside the child_image/mcuboot.conf file.

CONFIG_BOOT_UPGRADE_ONLY=y

CONFIG_BOOT_SWAP_USING_MOVE=n

However, the logs remain exactly the same. There is no visible difference in the boot logs.
Even after enabling overwrite mode, the behavior still appears to be swap, not overwrite.

OTA is working successfully. I understand why the “Before Slot” and “After Slot” messages appear in the boot upgrade logs. However, after enabling overwrite mode, the logs should be different. Instead, I am still seeing the same logs as before.

Could you please clarify why there is no difference in logs and why the behavior still appears as swap instead of overwrite?

One issue occurs when enabling SB_CONFIG_MCUBOOT_MODE_SWAP_SCRATCH=y or SB_CONFIG_MCUBOOT_MODE_SWAP_USING_MOVE=y in sysbuild.conf; it causes an error. Disabling these options removes the error. I am sharing the error below.

Hello,

This config controls how the bootloader copies the image from the secondary slot to the primary slot when activating the update after the DFU transfer has completed. This process is completely transparent to the DFU client (nRF Connect app), and this is why the log appears the same.
