I'm currently developing an application using the ESB protocol on a nrf52840.
I'm trying to calculate the expected current consumption in the different stages of the connection process and measure with a DMM.
My current settings are:

RE: nrf52840 ESB Current Consumption

Hello,

My suggestion is to use the peak radio TX and RX current you can find in the plot for the online Bluetooth LE for the expected current consumption in different modes, the peak currents will be the same between ESB and BLE. Then you can play around with different VDD, DCDC and output power configuration also.

Example, the expected current consumption for 0dBm, 3V and DCDC enabled is: TX: 6.7mA and RX: 6.4mA

The timing and average current consumption is not the same between BLE and ESB, but the peak currents in RX and TX mode are the same (the on-air datarate does not affect the peak current, only the duration).
https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/power/w/opp/2/online-power-profiler-for-bluetooth-le
