I have version 2.0.0 of Evaluation Kit. I was waiting for the new SDK and SD 6.0.0 but I have seen the warning about hardware versions. I have to finish a SoftDevice+SPI example quickly.
What is the best combination of SDK and SoftDevice for

RE: Best SDK+SoftDevice combination for nRF51822-EK v2.0.0

Yes, for this kit 4.4.2 and 5.2.1 should be fine. Be aware that the first revision chip does not have the SPI slave, so if you need this, you must get a second revision chip before being able to make the demo.

RE: Best SDK+SoftDevice combination for nRF51822-EK v2.0.0

So is SDK 4.4.2 and SD 5.2.1 a good match to test SPI+SD on EK? I could not load and start SPI example when SD 5.2.1 was loaded. After erase all I could make SPI error LEDS on but could not achieve loopback with LEDS off. I need SD and SPI function together for this proof-of concept as quick as possible. We will sure switch to latest hardware and toolchain right after project is accepted. So problem must be hardware, SDK and SD matching.

So I need to verify this before asking here. For EK v2.0.0, SDK 4.4.2 and SD 5.2.1 is supposed to work together is that right?

I will test this setup next,

Thanks.

RE: Best SDK+SoftDevice combination for nRF51822-EK v2.0.0

As you can see in the migration whitepaper, the first revision chip is officially supported only with SDK 4.x.x, and this only works with S110 version 5.2.1.

However, the primary recommendation is to get hold of a second revision chip and/or kit, and use this for development. There shouldn't be any major problems with using the latest versions of the S110/SDK with a first revision chip, but you may see occasional softdevice asserts as detailed in this question. They will not happen with a second revision chip.
