&lt;p&gt;Thank you for the quick response, I will go ahead and try what you recommended, i saw i need an adapter cable to program the beacon that connects to the &amp;quot;debug out&amp;quot; out of my nRF52 DK? do you which one i need? Ive seen several but im not sure which one i need for sure. &lt;p&gt;You can customize the beacon packet. If you want to follow the ibeacon standard, you can change two bytes (afaik). You can use this to send some codes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You can also use normal bluetooth le connections to send data to your phone. Our most basic example for this is the &lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.nordic.infocenter.sdk5.v11.0.0%2Fble_sdk_app_nus_c.html&amp;amp;cp=4_0_0_4_2_0_3"&gt;NUS&lt;/a&gt; (Nordic Uart Service) examples. We provide a corresponding &lt;a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nordicsemi.nrfUARTv2"&gt;android&lt;/a&gt; and iOS app.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You can also just change your advertising to something completely custom, and scan it with &lt;a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.nordicsemi.android.mcp"&gt;master control panel&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We provide source code for our android app on &lt;a href="https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor?utf8=%E2%9C%93&amp;amp;query=android"&gt;github&lt;/a&gt;, in case you are making your own.&lt;/p&gt;
