It looks like there are two PCBs connect via wires. &lt;p&gt;You can have longer wires, no problem. The wires will add inductance to the antenna which have to be taken into account when choosing the value of tuning capacitors, see here. On a PCB the added inductance of a track is about 1nH/mm.&lt;/p&gt;
