&lt;p&gt;Have you tried what suggested by Vidar to add BANK_UNUSED      = 0xFFFFFFF, in the bootloader setting structure. Note that the init packet is not obligated, so  you can actually send bootloader+softdevice without init packet. Please have a look &lt;a href="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/blogs/696/compatibility-between-dfu-bootloader-and-dfu-maste/"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
