I am working on a project where there are moving devices. Devices can only move if a wired button is pressed. In fact, for security reasons, there are two buttons connected in series to a PCL.
We would like to replace the wired connection by

RE: Replacing wired switch by bluetooth switch

Yes, that makes sense. For a quick test, you can either use Master Control Panel on Android or on Windows.

RE: Replacing wired switch by bluetooth switch

Ok, thanks !

So my plan is to build and test nAN-36, with one eval board and a Android machine.
Then I will "replace" the Android by the second eval board with s120.
Do it make sense ?

Thanks,

I have a question related to this thread ...

Let say that our system is composed of two parts:

the mobile module (with the switch)

the fixed module (connected to a safety PLC)

For different reasons, our system team would like to have the switch power on/off itself the mobile module.
If the switch is not pressed, the mobile module is power off.
If the switch is pressed, the mobile module is on.

So, conceptualy the message to transfer from the mobile to the fixed module is no more a kind of boolean (on/off), but a constant message telling "Hi, I am on", "Hi I am on", ... until next switch off

Do you have new advices ?

Thanks,

Section 1.1.1 states:
"The nRF51822 Evaluation Kit is needed for this application note."

Just for completeness: Gazell is just as low energy as Bluetooth low energy (actually even lower in some cases).

RE: Replacing wired switch by bluetooth switch

Thanks Ole,

We need low energy (to increase battery lifetime). I will have a look at nAN-36. Does it work with the evaluation kit ?

Have you had a look on it?

However, if you don't actually require Bluetooth low energy functionality, you may be just as well off by using Gazell. This is very similar to the keyboard use case that Gazell is optimized for. There are examples for Gazell available as part of the nRF51 SDK, including ones that use encryption and dynamic pairing. You can also take a look at the Gazell documentation online here.
