May I ask what you think was better in nAN-36? It might be valuable to know for any future tutorials.

I just read nAN-36 for the first time. It's quite good since it gives a little more colour on certain aspects that the tutorials lack. Definitely worth reading in addition to the tutorials.

You might also be interested in the "..., a beginners tutorial" series that you can find in the tutorial section. They show how to build custom services from scratch and are intended to be a little more up to date and generic than the good old nAN-36.

There is an app note nAN-36 that does exactly this by stepping through creating a custom LED Button example. The app note with example code can be found here:
