&lt;p&gt;The nRF51x22 has mux&amp;#39;ed the reset and swdio pin, and due to this non-standard implementation, it requires an added sequence in the debugger infrastructure.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It does not seem that it has this added reset-options by looking at the configuration in the openocd repository:

&lt;p&gt;It seems to only perform a soft-reset over the debug interface.&lt;/p&gt;
