Do I need a programmer to program NRF523832 in the DK, Can I just program it through USB?

This is On-Board version of famous J-Link Programmer/Debugger.

So just plug in the USB and you can program nrf52 chip easily.

RE: What is the use of PCA10040 in NRF52 DK.?

PCA10040 is not a chip, it identifies the PCB, that this is a nRF52 DK.

The label that PCA10040 is printed on is an interface MCU that can program the nRF52832 chipset.
